Me, myself & I
"i am free to be who i really am... no pretenses, no broken promises, no fear... just a life packed with hopelessness and unattainable dreams, 'cause im just livin' like i shld... my life..." everyone has hopes and dreams but dun they know that hope is the denial of reality and that dreams will forever be just dreams? Monday, December 03, 2007 [031207] Off day routines
In what is quickly becoming a routine, i caught a movie at cineleisure (again) and ate at someplace fancy (again) on my off day (again) ensuring my wallet ended up in the ICU (again) . I've given up hope of managing to find friend(s) for these kind of endeavours so i decided to do the sensible thing - Save my SMSes and not bother anyone by asking. After a rejuvenating and somewhat tiring 15 hours of sleep (1420 hrs - 0530 hrs), i woke up still feeling sore and achy. surfed the net, checked the mail, read the news til 9ish and watched Jeff Dunham videos til 11ish before heading out. Undecided on where to eat but eventually settled for Paragon, wanted to try out Carnivours@vivocity but the idea of traveling all the way south bothered me. Ended up at Spaggedies nestled in the corner of the basement in Paragons. Quiet and very relaxed atmosphere but was slightly put off by the less than charming service staff. When you're from the service line, you tend to pick up on minor details... like staff not smiling, staff not informing you of soup of the day, staff not recommending items they want to upsell, staff not asking if i want ice water, staff not being attentive, staff not informing you of credit card promotions yada yada yada etc. The list can go on and on. Then again, I could be just picky and on more than one occasion in the past, i have been guilty of the above mentioned crimes. What can i say? If we really care for the customer, we'd send them somewhere better. Looked through the menu and was quite awed with the amount of seemingly mouth watering delicacies awaiting my salivating oral cavity. Craved for steak as well as an all too familiar calling for pasta so i settled for something that would satisfy both my cravings. Crayfish and Tenderloin combo. magnifique! The presentation wasnt much to be desired but it tasted WAY better than it looked. The tenderloin was grilled medium rare, the way i like my beef and wasnt too dry or tough though it tasted abit bland (no pepper or salt?), the crayfish was quite succulent and the melted cheese definitely added much taste to the freshness of the seafood, the tomato sauce and tomato chunks added to the overall flavour. The accompanying olio aglio linguine was a delight, with the garlic and parsley adding much punch to the dish, sadly it wasnt spicy enough for my taste. The meal turned out to be very filling though i had misgivings about it earlier on due to the misconception i had when i looked at the picture of the ordered dish in the menu. After a nice meal like that, it seemed only right that i had dessert to go along. Quickly settled for Italian Chocolate cake with ice cream and tea. Once again, the presentation was minimal or more likely to be non-existent but then again, perhaps they were going for the minimalist look. The dessert turned out to be a total let down, the ice-cream was only so so with the chocolate cake disappointing severely. The only saving face was that the fudge was good while it's warm. I had better hot fudge cake with ice cream elsewhere... not a bad place to dine and a couple of items caught my eye, definitely going back to try again some other time. Headed to Kino to waste some time and helped settle my lunch down but ended up buying 2 books when i walked out. Caught the movie 30 days of night, a graphic novel adaptation with the same title. More and more of these graphic novels adaptations these days... maybe the screenwriters are running out of fresh ideas for movies... Not much to critique about, lotsa blood, lotsa screaming, a pretty linear plotline and predicable ending. Of course, there were going to be survivors and of course, Evan (Josh Harnett) the leading character was going to sacrifice himself to save the others. DUH!!! 2 popcorns of out 5 |
