"i am free to be who i really am... no pretenses, no broken promises, no fear... just a life packed with hopelessness and unattainable dreams, 'cause im just livin' like i shld... my life..." everyone has hopes and dreams but dun they know that hope is the denial of reality and that dreams will forever be just dreams?

created with QuizFarm.com

You scored as Journalism.
You are an aspiring journalist, and you should major in journalism! Like me, you are passionate about writing and expressing yourself, and you want the world to understand your beliefs through writing.

Kinnda interesting to see that i shld major in journalism, but it's not really my cup of tea, i dont really know what's my cup of tea... im at a crossroad in life... sad aint it? well, i guess most of us go through the same phase...

Haven really been blogging mainly due to the fact that my comp has died on me, i think it's infected with a virus or worm or something... really sickening and i feel so lost without the normal routine of checking emails and stuff and surfing, am begining to feel really detached from the rest of the world and all because of my comp's failure, man I really need to get a life... hmm...

Im down to my last paper!!!!!!!! Tml's the big day with Immunology, it's scareee i tell ya, tons of freakin stuff info that I would probably never use again in the future and i need to memorise all of 'em... damn those scientists... and man's innate curiosity, cant you ppl just leave it as everything were and not feel a compelling need to know everything???!?!?!?!?

Enuff blabbering, damian checking out.. cheers.

[120106] The end of yet another week, 3 more weeks to go...

The week ended on a pretty bright note, GLMP paper is finally over!!! Ok, i admit i didnt study really hard... as usual, left the studying to the last minute... but the paper was relatively easy and I shld be able to clear this module without much hassle or problems. Computer's been going crazy on me of late, always, hanging, restarting and all sorts of other nonsense.. i cant even have a decent time playing games or watching movies no more.. ARrrgghhh!!! What's the freakin' matter with you??!?? *hollers at computer*

For some reason, the computer seems to understand and proceeds to make some freaky noises... ok ok, point taken, u're the boss... sheesh... or maybe it's just the damn processor fan...

Met up with helmut, the 2 graces, pei xuan and shi hong for dinner at PS cafe cartel yesterday evening.. first time dining at cafe cartel (yea yea, sua ku.. i know i know) had the meat lover's special and shared the supreme platter... hmmm.. overall comments... service was excellent, the staff was polite and always had a ready smile... the food was pretty good too.. the chicken chop, pork chop and the sausage drenched in the glorious pepper sauce was to die for and the chow that the rest ordered too looked pretty mouth watering.. just that helmut complained about his portion being too small when compared to ours... lol

The seafood platter looked immense and very very very very did i mention very very good... serving for 5 at $50... pretty decent, with fish fillets, soft shelled crab, scallops, prawns and coleslaw.. *drools* and i applied for the student previlage card.. using the recipt from the meal... haha... not gonna be a student in 3 more weeks but the card once approved is valid for an initial period of 2 years.. haha..

had a ball of a time laughing away yesterday, as expected with grace goh ard, it's always fun to tickle her with jokes and see her lapse into one of her infamous laughing fits... yesterday was no exception... except that I believe we have found her twin sister... lol... equally vocal and ticklish.. and she scared off ppl seated behind us for 3 times... maybe the patrons seated behind us ate fast but defintely, the entire restraunt was staring at us at one point or another... we were seated at 7 and we left at ard 2330.. quite a decent place to chill out after a nice dinner... the food was good, the company was better but it didnt leave a very good impression on my wallet.. admitted into A & E again.... sighz.. well at least it's not in the ICU... yet....

on the way back, bumped into a couple of drunks on the train and the drunk started picking a fight with this chinese middle aged uncle... came to blows and slapping, cursing and swearing, everybody on the train was pretty stunned and most attempted to move out of their way... had to pull my friend away from them as they moved towards him, he then proceeded to press the button above the seats.

Remember the red button with the slot for a key that supposedly allows us to communicate with the driver? It even has a picture instruction instructing us on how to use it and the penalties for misuse. Ring a bell?

Anyways, good news was that it worked!? My friend then proceeded to inform driver that there was a fight onboard the train and he shld stop the train at the next stop. Driver then calmly conveyed the following instructions over the speaker system.

Driver: Excuse, passenger, could you repeat what you just said?
SH: *shouting* THERE ARE 2 INDIAN MEN FIGHTING IN THE CABIN, COULD YOU STOP THE TRAIN AT THE NEXT STATION?!??
Driver: Ok, thank you. Staff will be informed at the next station, please remain calm

so the train stopped at Orchard and the 2 Indian men, obviously very drunk alighted but not before sprouting a seemingly endless stream of vulgarities directed at the chinese uncle. They then promptly made their get away by going up the escalators, the SMRT staff came late however but managed to detain the chinese uncle who was in a way, the victim of the whole conflict.

So what have I learnt from the 5-10 minutes of surreal drama unfolding in fornt of my eyes yesterday night?

1. Singaporeans are passive beings. If something happens and I move away, perhaps it might not be real *covers eyes and starts chanting "It isnt real, this isnt happening to me" (repeat as many times as needed)
2. Alcohol, bad tempers and an accidental touch/push = bad combination
3. The speaker/communicating system with the driver on board the trains does work!!!!
4. I cant trust the system. where were the Special Operation Command officers when you needed them? i see them everywhere on the train these days and they were nowhere to be found last night.. ah... perhaps it was the late night.. their jobs must be from 0800-1700, five day week... that expains it... perhaps their job scope shld be examined.. afterall, when one member of the public had to step in and shout POLICE! in an attempt to deter the fight, hmmm.. shows something doesnt it? (yea yea, im bitching and making unrealistic comments but hey, it's not a crime to bitch and whine is it?)

[060206] Bloody 7 ques...

Read thru Kenn's blog and guess what, he had another meme done and lucky me, he passed it on to me to carry it on.... hmm... but before i carried it out, i decided to source out what the **** is a meme and according to Wikipedia, a meme is derived from the Greek word mimema, "something imitated" often refers to a piece of information passed from one mind to another. The term first came into popular use with the publication of the book The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins in 1976, and the conceptual framework of memes borrows from the study of genes -- the units of biological transmission. Historically, the notion of a unit of social evolution, and a similar term (from Greek mneme, 'memory'), first appeared in 1904 in a work by the German evolutionary biologist Richard Semon: Die Mnemische Empfindungen in ihren Beziehungen zu den Originalenempfindungen, translated into English in 1921 as The Mneme. By analogy with genetics, a meme passes from generation to generation via family and cultural traditions or training rather than via sexual reproduction, with occasional "mutations." Another common usage of the term "meme" relates closely to academic study of folklore and the informal communication of cultural information, in which memes fit into an analogy of "language as a virus".

In simple terms, a meme is sort of like a chain letter... sheesh.. all those words to explain what a chain letter is... and dun get me started, chain letters under Wikipedia has almost 4 parapgraphs just to expain the concept... why make simple things so difficult... anyways, back to this current meme... here it goes:

7th day of the Lunar New Year liaoz.. and 2 weeks away from semestral exams... im having it good.. with my 2 papers spread out and seperated by one week.. more time to slac... i mean study.. yep.. study... anyways, yesterday quite a busy day.. went to Ke Hin's place, Richard's place, lao yu sheng and then to Shi Qin's place...

Supposed to meet ppl at OCBC to lead them to Hin's place.. but in the end only Lulu came and met me... sianz... haha... Pasta, pizza and KFC was served at his place.. thank you Ke Hin for being such a gracious host.. haha.. sorry about the chilli flakes on the floor.. it was all Lulu's fault.. she made me laugh.. stupid girl... yesterday kept on laughing and laughing, must have been high on something.. JJ, YF, ES, LQ and R also came.. and met up with some juniors of mine (Hin's Squadmates)... in the end, the entire housed packed.. darn noisy..

Left soon after lunch.. (oops.. heh.. free lunch was good) to head over to Richard's place.. i turned out to be the earliest and straight away.. Carlsberg was offered.. didnt really like beer but not good to reject so opened it and started to chat while im wolfing down pineapple tarts to get rid of the beer aftertaste... drank the beer down pretty quickly...

Richard: "Damian, so fast ah? another one?"
ME: "No thanks, i dun really like to drink beer... usually i drink shooters or mix."
Richard: "Can can.. come come, i prepare for you screwdriver."

He then proceeds to pour a screwdriver with a extremely generous dose of absolute vodka.

oh boy.. and boy was the taste strong as well.. haha.. oh well.. not good to decline so started to drink again... had a chat with him about how being able to hold ur liquor help in the working world or any other place for that matter... then had a chat with him over my plans to sign on as a regular and he offered some insights and advice him being an ex-regular and stuff in the army... he gave me some new points to ponder over and reinforced some worries that i already had especially on the point of what if the SAF dont offer me the second term contract.. what can i do when im 31 and 10 years in the army count for nothing on my resume in the commercial world? Another set of questions and worries to think about... i'll worry about the coming exams first can get it over with first.. 1 problem at a time...

Terence soon came along and started chatting again followed by Kel, Keegan, Kenn, Janice, Keith, Dennis, Hendrick and Zaid.. haha.. and with Richard's wifey's friends, his house turned into quite a gambling den.. haha.. started playing cards and stuff and it was great to catch up with the lads.. a really great time.. rushed off to yishun again after hitching a ride to meet JJ and gang for dinner and lao-ing of yu sheng... haha.. in the end didnt lao any.. bo liao lah i think.. anyways long story cut short, ended the night playing majong at SQ's place.. lost a bit.. haha.. and reached home ard 0130 hrs.. totally knocked out man.. shagged.. anyways.. gotta rush off to meet QH, supposed to meet at 1300 but now already 1245.. better hurry or the 2LTA charge me.. lol
