"i am free to be who i really am... no pretenses, no broken promises, no fear... just a life packed with hopelessness and unattainable dreams, 'cause im just livin' like i shld... my life..." everyone has hopes and dreams but dun they know that hope is the denial of reality and that dreams will forever be just dreams?

[110408] You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you.

Caught The Bucket List earlier, best movie i've seen thus far this year and it's definitely worth your while to go and catch this heart warming film about 2 terminally ill men from contrasting background who managed to come together as friends against all reasoning to find happiness, acceptance and joy in the last few months of their lives.

[090408] Revisiting murphy's laws

It has struck again without much warning much to my dismay. Murphy's Laws yet again triumphs against a mortal man bringing him down to his knees when he lest expects it. "Nothing is as easy as it looks" & "If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something" appears to slap me right in the face. It had been a good week thus far until today that is, andrew approached me with dire news, something happened during my ADO stint on sunday. D'OH!

It turned out to be a missing access card which i didnt even know existed until i stepped into the RSM's office. shit shit shit shit shit. I needed to check to ensure that all six cards are there when i take over the duty?!?! Really?!? God DAMN! Im pretty sure Benson didnt include that in the offical duties of an ADO. In the end because of one missing card, i think the entire line of ADOs before me also gonna kenna. sighz. haiz. have to suck it up. Most probably gonna sign extra already for something that i wasnt even aware of.

I wish i can sing to the tune of Life is beautiful by LMNT (playing right now on the blog) but i just can't. Shit always happens, how can life be beautiful you tell me?

[080408] Three Kingdoms in film

1st day of VSCC - one word BORING... I've not known boredom in such an untarnished and pure form. SJ, i think i've discovered the ultimate sleep inducing element and no, it's not your office nor Dr. Elangovan's lectures. It's the SCDF VSCC course. I think they purposely put us through this mental torture to see if we can bear with the boredom and if we do, we are deemed worthy to be promoted and wear the rank of sergeant.

The only positives to have come out of the opening day of the VSCC was that i got to skip enlistment duties and i got to go home early. Since it was still early, decided to catch a movie at causeway point. So many movies i wanna catch but sooooo little time. Vantage Point, Untraceable and 3 Kingdoms. Decided quickly on 3 kingdoms before heading down to Jack's Place for a quick meal. Sirloin wasnt bad but i've had better.

Andy Lau once again makes a foray into a martial period film after his most recent film, Warlords. This time, he portrays legendary SHU general Zhao Zilong or more commonly known as Zhao Yun, one of the famed SHU 5 Tiger Generals. The show chronicles his rise from a mere foot soldier to a living legend. Story is based loosely on the Chinese Literary Epic - The Romance of the Three Kingdoms but die hard followers of the epic would be disappointed to see that the premise for the story isnt really based on any of the battles or stories but based loosely around it. The one scene which would be instantly recognizable would be the part where Zhao Zilong faced off against ten thousand men while saving Liu Bei's infant son. Other notable characters like Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Cao Cao also make cameo appearances. Maqqie Q was her usual beautiful sensual self in her portrayal of Cao Ying (Cao Cao's granddaughter) but somehow she seemed out of place, too modern looking. Overall a decent film with a decent amount of action, but i would prefer to have something more substantial for the plot. Looking forward to the next 3 Kingdoms film: Battle of the Red Cliff.

[050408] 158 to go.

This week has been a week of ups and downs. Whatever the case, i'm glad that i've finally cleared the hurdle and can go to the Vocation Section Commander Course (VSCC) next tuesday in peace knowing that the awarding of my 3rd and final chevron is almost entirely guaranteed. I can ORD in peace. Erm, not exactly but yah, 158 days to go.

Stumbled onto an interesting blog and have added it to my blog roll of honour. The blogs that i frequent and read whenever im online or free. Check it out under NS Chains. Read one of the more interesting articles he posted and i feel it's quite true much like that much fabled poorly animated music video NS Song, the article examines and gives 10 points why NS is a liability rather than an asset.

Read about it HERE

2 weeks away from camp, 2 weeks away from the recruits, 2 weeks away from the short one and the big man.
FREEDOM.

I can also taste it.

Not exactly the freedom i had in mind but when you're in the predicament im in, you cant afford to be picky.

Leave me be.

Let me enjoy and savour my moment.
