"i am free to be who i really am... no pretenses, no broken promises, no fear... just a life packed with hopelessness and unattainable dreams, 'cause im just livin' like i shld... my life..." everyone has hopes and dreams but dun they know that hope is the denial of reality and that dreams will forever be just dreams?

[270807] AHM down, Run for hope next

Dear damian,

We've been with each other since birth and have always placed our great faith in you. We've endured countless hours of standing while at work and even more hours doing arduous footdrill in the 8 and a half years that you were in the Corps. When you decreed that you felt you needed to shape up and lose weight, we went along with the idea as well.

What followed was a program of running/jogging 2-4 km every evening for a period of over 3-6 months and we were glad to see the results. Never once had we complained about the stress, workload and wear and tear you placed on us but why do you choose to abuse us so? Now, when more than ever you felt the need to run? You put us through 21.1 km and now you feel our sorrow and pain. And what's this talk i've heard about running the 42.195km Standard Chartered Marathon?

Treasure us more please?

Sincerely yours,
Your Knees

Shagged out day yesterday, woke up at 0300hrs and cabbed down to AHM starting point with redfox, milled around and warmed up before the flag off at 0530hrs. By the time, we managed to squeeze past the non-competitors who were also waiting on the bridge it was already 0545hrs. It's really refreshing to be running in the cool of the morning to see how quiet everything was, how tranquil it was...

Completed the run in 2hours 34 minutes according to the official timing, aint too bad i guess.. haha... but seriously the fucked up thing was having to queue for over an hour and a half just to recollect our baggage... fucked up system... met up with daniel afterwards to head down to sentosa for beach volleyball again... had lots of fun as usual and got a slight sun burn as well...

Evening was spent with the lads down at LSB, great gathering last night... over 30 lads? and we had a new grp of expats as well who were vocal and great fun to be with... cheers lads... shouted, cheered and sung til my voice broke and grew hoarse, cant even speak properly now... damn knees and ankles hurt now... actually it's every part of the body.. haha.. cant even go down the stairs properly now... cant imagine how my body's gonna feel like after Standard Chartered.. haha...

[220807] Incompetencies

I think that the CD day parade is a total farce, the stand alone reason being that the rehearsals and personnel involved arent really interested nor deserving to be in the parade itself. First off, my compliments to the trainers for i think they really are putting their efforts in trying to make the parade a success despite having only less than a month and a half to train us.

The only problem therein lies in the fact that the participants are really of a different 'breed'. Sure, none of the personnel involved in Police Day or SAF day are willing participants but looking at some of the participants within some of the contingents is really depressing. Even the Guard of Honor which is supposedly to be the
Crème de la Crème of the SCDF is depressingly non impressive. We're sloppy to say the least, incorrigible at our worst.

That said, let's move on to the parade commander. With the CD day being such a big deal and all, you'd think that he would have actually prepared for his role but NOoooo... he doesnt even know the commands yet... *slaps forehead* what kind of Parade Commander do we have here? & that's not all, to make matters worse, we have an equally incompetent Contingent commander who doesnt know when to turn, and what to shout. "Kawalan Kerhormatant, ke dalam lu-rus" became, "Kawalan Kerhormatant, ke kanan lu-rus"... "Jadikan tiga barisan" became "dengan tiga barisan".

With such displays, it will be a miracle if we'll be able to pull it off with 3 weeks to go... and that said, the conducting warrants were missing the entire rehearsal except for the very last run. Goodness, if i was the trainer, i'd probably be in the ICU by now.

The end of the 104th intake arrives at last, this intake was a breeze, time skipped by fast enough and come next intake, will see both the sergeants ORDing... 3 intakes down, 4 more to go... cant wait for my NS to end, hate my life in BRTC, cant stand the system, the CSM or the OC. waste of my 2 years. an utter waste.

Natasha Bedingfield - Soulmate

Incompatible, it don't matter though
'cos someone's bound to hear my cry
Speak out if you do
you're not easy to find

Is it possible Mr. Loveable
is already in my life?
right in front of me
or maybe you're in disguise

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
who knows how to love you without being told
somebody tell me why I'm on my own
if there's a soulmate for everyone

Here we are again, circles never end
how do I find the perfect fit
there's enough for everyone
but I'm still waiting in line

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
who knows how to love you without being told
somebody tell me why I'm on my own
if there's a soulmate for everyone

If there's a soulmate for everyone

Most relationships seem so transitory
They're all good but not the permanent one

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
who knows how to love you without being told
somebody tell me why I'm on my own
if there's a soulmate for everyone

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
who knows how to love you without being told
somebody tell me why I'm on my own
if there's a soulmate for everyone
If there's a soulmate for everyone

Incapable of sustaining anything remote to a decent conversation... What happens when a passive guy likes an equally passive gal? When passiveness disallows the chance of any sparks to fly or react. Or maybe it's just a case of unrequited affections. A one sided thing or maybe it could be just a fantasy dreamed up in one's thoughts of what could be, what might have been or what will be. Maybe she's just not interested. Does she even have a clue in the first place?

[110807] Friday was cam whore day

As the title suggests, friday was cam whore day in camp... well, not that we're actual cam-whores. NO offense meant to the real hard core narcissists and camera whores out there who im sure enjoy what you guys do on a daily basis. First off, everybody was in sian mode, having to come to camp when elsewhere other NSFs are given off.

And you know the reason? it's because of our freakin' OCs... In the National Observan
ce Ceremony on wednesday, the Commander shot the 3 coy OCs in front of the entire battalion. "The recruits have done well but the OCs have not so today (N'day eve) we'll be working as normal til 5 and on friday we'll report to camp for our duties and training." wtf? wth? Geez, sir... even if the OCs fuck up, you shouldnt punish the men for it... men especially us, need the extra day off to rest and relax after all the time spent in camp... good for nothing captains, sitting on their fat asses collecting 6k per month of the tax payer's money to delegate and push their work to NSF officers. fucked up.

anyways back to the topic, so the instructors (erm, ok.. my platoon only) didnt really felt like going through the lessons so while our sir went through the theory, we went around taking various pics... some of the pics will make it into the photo montage thomas is making for the intake, so it's useful.. heh..

i have no ties to the 2 freaks posing behind me Me with my 2 seniors in the platoon, ironically, both of which are younger than me...

A random pic, chris and me are standing in a trouser leg each... jeans belonged to one of our recruits...
Introducing Izuan, the bert look alike i was talking about... he's bert lah!

[090807] Baris Hormat President Hormat Senjata!

Counting down to the parade segment for NDP, i've always watched each and every year's national day parade but only as far as the part where the various vehicles from the SAF, SCDF and SPF do their 'roll past' past the president. After that, i usually find something else to amuse myself with... have never liked the performance segment of the NDP Parade... looking forward to this year's parade...

Been listening to Goo Goo Doll's Before It's too late... cant seem to get enough of it...

Came across Elmo with Andrea Bocelli video on youtube, singing a different version of Bocelli's Time to say goodbye... very nice video... reminded me of the days i watched Sesame Street, heh i grew up watching Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar, Count Dracula among many others... my fav character though is still Ernie with his rubber duckie and of course his brother bert. I've got a fellow instructor who looks just like Bert.. haha.. i'll try and upload his picture... you guys can decide for yourself the similarity...

Sunny day
Sweepin' the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street

Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street...

How to get to Sesame Street

How to get to ...

[090807] NATIONAL DAY

Happy national day to everyone, no doubt enjoying the holidays as i have thus far - slacking, chillin' at home. IT doesnt get better than this. Been a long time since i've blogged, well the usual reason, nothing much to blog about... well, erm... not really... there are quite a few things to blog about but been bitten by the lazybug and well, you guys shld kno
w how much of a procrastinator i am...

Anyways, catch the simpsons! It's a must watch! Seriously, the movie brought across everything that was likable about the tv series, from the lovable maggie to the ever clueless Homer, the movie really epitomizes why we love the simpsons to begin with. I cant remember when was the last time i laughed so hard while watching a movie. Excellent. To make it even more worthwhile, caught the show with the clan. Win, Kim and Yvonne... too bad aini and sham cant make it, we'll catch up some other time guys, be sure of it...

Attended Northland's speech day yesterday and received the service award along with Ke hin for our service in NPCC. Kinnda miss the days when i was still active in the corps, the camaraderie, the trainings and of course not forgetting the people. Heard that a teacher's wife passed away recently and when he congratulated me on the award, i conveyed my condolences.

What surprised me was he smiled at me, and said, "there's nothing to be sorry about. She's in a better place now. Heaven. So what's there to be sorry about?" I see that his faith is strong. Good for him. Feel glad for him in a way to see that h
e's not drowning in sorrow or deep in mourning but just took it on his chin and moved on.

After the award, went to lunch with some of the instructors and Mr. Neo at Soup restaurant at causeway point. First time eating there and i gotta say the food's pretty good over there... A bit pricey but what would you expect? The sam-sui chicken, the pork ribs lotus soup and the yang chow fried rice in particular stood out. Dang! Gotta revisit the place again some day...

Life in camp is pretty much the same, Lt Lek has left and in came 2Lt Teoh to replace him. So far, still ok bah... good thing is he's willing and doesnt mind to slack. Well done, Sir. Welcome to Platoon 3, The chilled, The cold , The cool.

Got selected to be in the Guard of Honour contingent for the Civil Defence Day parade. Close your mouths ppl... yes, there IS such a thing as CD Day. It's like SAF Day or Police Day. Surprising huh? Getting a tailored made no. 1 uniform but downside is we cant keep it... just happened that they felt the old no. 1 uniforms were too yellow and too old so with this year's parade decided to make new ones. What's the point of having tailored made uniforms but not being able to keep it, you ask? Beats me, their way of doing things i guess... save cost.

So it's back to marching, marching and more marching during rehearsals which are conducted twice weekly. The RSM never fails to remind us that we only have less than a month to train. Yes Encik, you said it many times before already. We understood-ed. But looking at the likes of some of the participants in the GOH, it makes me wonder if we'll be the most fucked up batch in history? Luckily, they're looking to dispose of some people as the BRTC supporting contingent is short on marchers.

Sadly, the life in camp does not equate the beauty of this picture

That my friends is a glimpse into the 'glamorous' life of an instructor in BTRC. Sorry for making you guys read through all of the above junk. haha... now you know why i dont update so regularly.

Oh, i've finally redeemed the free Compaq laptop given by starhub. It's cool having a laptop but seeing that im in NS, not much use for it as yet. Considering to bring it into camp when im on duty, duty blues and bores no more! woo hoo! and of course if i continue my studies, it'll be definitely useful... especially when im in Switzerland.

Looking forward to the National Day Parade! Happy holidays y'all!
